Theif

While shopping at Joanns, Trey happened to see some Buzz Lightyear fabric. An enormous meltdown occured, I let him hold the bag of fabric while we were shopping. Of course we had to give it back to the cashier as we were leaving, so the meltdown started again.

Meanwhile, Joanns makes you walk past what feels like a mile of candy to get to the cash register. So Beck is begging for every piece of candy he sees. He finally settles on the Rolo's as his candy of choice. I told him to put it back and I hurried and paid for my things and tried to get out of there as fast as possible. I don't enjoy the stares from people thinking "Can't you get your kid to be quiet?" It doesn't help that Tate and Trey were blessed with a loud boisterous voice.

We had to get some things from Babies R Us which was in the same shopping area. As we started to walk I noticed Beck had the Rolo's in his hand.

Me: Why did you take the Rolos after I told you no?
Beck: Because I want to eat them

I don't think his 3 year old mind comprehends stealing, but we had to take the walk of shame back in and hand it to the cashier.

Just another manic Monday...

I don't know what happens at your family night, but this is what happened at ours
This is Trey and sadly this giant goose egg  had it's picture taken after we iced it for about 10 minutes. It's hard to tell from the picture but it really looked like he had a golf ball in there.

Beck was chasing Trey and so Trey was watching Beck and not where he was running and ran right into the corner of the wall. I'm so happy he didn't crack his head open! He only cried for the 20 seconds that it took from the wall to get to me.

The kids were supposed to go to bed right after the lesson, but since he hit his head really hard I worried about putting him straight to bed. So all three children got to stay up an hour later. Ironically our lesson was on how to be reverent.

Parenting 101

A couple days ago it was a little stinky in the kids' room, I changed the diapers, disposed of them and cracked their window open. Nothing about what I did was abnormal. In fact this happens multiple times a day. I then went about my morning chores and while I was sweeping Beck came running in the kitchen yelling "The twins are gone!!" Instantly I knew they had gone out the window. Thankfully it was a ground floor window.

Beck and I ran outside. I was wearing what I had slept in with my scary Medusa hair. If our neighbors didn't think we were crazy before, they do now.We caught up to the twins quickly, long before they made it out to the road.

I now know I can never open windows. I feel it should be noted that I would never open a window that would injure my children to fall out of. I'm far to paranoid for that. I just didn't think they would be able to climb on their dresser, push the window open the rest of the way and pop out the screen. I clearly under estimated what evil geniuses they are.

Lunch Time

I never buy chips, so the twins have only had them on a few occasions. The other day Randy had a left over bag from lunch at Utah. So I thought I would be nice and let the twins eat it with their lunch. Not to my surprise, shortly after starting lunch they starting yelling "more!"
They had eaten all the chips and not touched their PB&J or their strawberries. It took about 20 minutes to convince them that the chips were really all gone and the food that was left was all they were going to get. Not only was this day special because they got chips, but I also let them eat lunch while watching Spongebob and sitting on their Buzz Lightyear chairs and table. Not a bad day for the twins...

Butter Knife Sword Fight

The twins, especially Tate, loves to sword fight. They are all boy. Anything that can possibly be used as a sword does. Lately they have been getting out the butter knives and using those. I caught the twins the other day doing this.
Tate would point his butter knife at Trey and yell "You!" then Trey would point his butter knife at Tate and yell "You!" They were doing this over and over again. It was hysterical.

As soon as I pulled out my phone for pictures and recording they wouldn't do it anymore.  Swords are the only thing Trey will put Buzz down for. But as you can see he wasn't very far away.

Two

I have been getting a lot of cute things about twins lately. I have gotten two that I absolutely love. I will get the other one posted soon. Here is one that sums up everyday of my life:
Two to wash, there's two to dry, there's two who argue, there's two who cry. One's in the mud having a ball, the other holds a crayon, and marked the wall. Some days seem endless, my patience grows thin. Why did God choose me to be a mother of twins? The answer comes clear at the end of each day, as I tuck them in bed and to myself I say... There's two to kiss, there's two to hug; and best of all, two to love

New Bed

I told the twins it was time for their nap and to go get into their bed.
They decided to make a new bed on top of their dresser. Notice Trey is holding one of his Buzzys.

Tate & Trey Turn Two!!

I can't believe how big my boys are!! As of June 6 they are officially two. We had a little party for them at home. Their big party is this Saturday which I think I'm more excited for than the kids are.

Two years ago these were my boys. So so tiny!

The weather was not awesome on their day, sadly. We planned on spending most of the day at the park, but it didn't work out that way.

It was cold and the wind was horrible. So we played for as long as we could handle it. And by we, I mean me and Randy. My allergies were going crazy with all the wind, sadly we had to take the twins kicking and screaming from the park. Tate thinks he can do everything at the park. Those two bars he's sliding down scares me to death!!

The boys got to choose what they ate for dinner
Beck influenced their choice, but they were very happy that they got their own Happy Meal.

They are getting awesome cakes fort their party, so I just bought a couple slices of cake for their birthday. Tate is on the right and the reason his candle isn't burning anymore is because he put it out with his fingers. Crazy kid.

Then came time for presents...

Their favorite present was their PJ's. I will never again buy pajamas that aren't character related. Putting them to bed at night has been a breeze! Tate got Spongebob and Trey got Buzz.
This was the best picture we got with them in the PJ's. Trey is crying because he wanted to hold his Buzz Lightyear swimsuit. He slept with it that night. Despite the crying in the picture, they had a great day!

Tate loves:
Spongebob
Star Wars
Toy Story
Mac & Cheese
Cake
Spoons
Sword Fighting
The Park
Climbing

Trey loves:
Buzz
Spongebob
Buzz
Star Wars
Mac & Cheese
Buzz
Running
The Park
& more Buzz

When the twins were released from the hospital, on July 9, 2009 they were five weeks old. They had their first doctor appointment two days later their measurements were:
Tate
Weight: 6.81lbs in the 1st percentile
Length: 19.17" in the 0.16 percentile
Head Circum: 13.77" in the 3rd percentile

Trey
Weight: 6.95lbs in the 1st percentile
Length: 19.29" in the 0.25 percentile
Head Circum: 13.85" in the 3rd percentile

At their 2 year appointment they are now:
Tate
Weight: 30.58lbs in the 80th percentile
Length: 34.5" in the 53rd percentile
Head Circum: 19.6" in the 79th percentile

Trey
Weight: 30.18lbs in the 76th percentile
Length: 35" in the 68th percentile
Head Circum: 19.5" in the 73rd percentile

They no longer show signs of delay from their prematurity! They are healthy happy boys!! They have come along way in the last two years and we couldn't be happier with how well they are doing!

Horsey

Beck was laying on the floor and Trey jumped on Beck's back and called him Bullseye. Beck was nice and played along
I love Trey's cheezer smile

Although whenever you jump on a house you never know if you'll get bucked off
And yes this was the beginning of June and my kids are in long sleeves! The weather was horrible!!

Hogle Zoo

On June 1st, my Mom and I took the kids to the zoo. We always go together at least once every year. Our first trip was when the twins were only 2 1/2 months old. Our zoo trips now are easier in some ways and harder in others.

The morning started off with Beck jumping out of bed, which rarely happens. Beck loves animals! The night before the zoo he recounted his last two zoo trips to Randy with amazing accuracy. How he remembers all those details amazes me! Seeing as how they were almost a year ago.

Tate is never hard to wake up. He is always ready to go and do things. Trey on the other hand cried because we were not watching Buzz. I fed them, dressed them, sunscreened them and we were on our way. Trey was still crying because we didn't watch Buzz.

The boys fell asleep on the drive, so Trey's crying stopped. But as soon as we got to the zoo. He asked for Buzz. He was somewhat distracted by the entrance of the zoo while we bought tickets. If you haven't heard, they are having Zoorassic Park this summer at the zoo. They have replicas of dinosaurs placed all throughout the zoo. This made Tate and Beck even more excited.

The second dinosaur that we saw spit water out of his mouth. Not being a dinosaur expert I have know idea what is was, but I would've put it in the raptor family.
That dinosaur there got Trey's legs as we were walking by. This was probably 5 minutes into our zoo trip. He became hysterical and it went downhill with him from there. Tate loved the dinosaurs and now Trey was terrified of them. Since they were in the same stroller it made things interesting. Trey cried when he saw one and Tate cried because he couldn't touch them. Yes, we were a rolling freak show.

We went to the bird show
Beck and Tate loved it. If it weren't for Google Images of Buzz on my phone, Trey wouldn't have made it through that show.

Next we saw the gorillas followed by a snake and gross bug show. I added the gross part in myself.

All Tate wanted to do at the snake show was walk up and down the stairs. By himself. This were not little stairs they were quite the step up and down. And yes, I leash the twins. I still feel a twinge of quilt every time I put the leash on, but they would have run off and killed themselves without them. They let the kids pet one of the snakes at the end of the show. Tate was still out climbing, but Beck and Trey touched it. It was the only time Trey was happy during that show.

Next was the elephant show. Which usually is pretty cool. The elephants do cool tricks, but no luck this time. They didn't have the baby elephant in the show and all they did was tell us about the different parts of the elephant. Although, Beck used to be afraid of the big elephant that sneezes on everyone outside of their cage and this year he actually sat on the trunk!

Shortly after we ate lunch a miracle happened. Trey fell asleep! He had been screaming to "home play buzz!" The entire time. During his nap he missed the carousel. I felt kind of bad, but not bad enough to actually wake him up and possibly start the screaming over again.

Trey woke up shortly after leaving the carousel. The crying continued. There was a dinosaur that you could touch so we let the kids play on that.

Trey actually smiled!!

We then went to get on the Zoofari Train and the screaming reached a new level. Trey did not want to wait in line. We had to wait for 2 trains before we got on ours. Once we were sitting on the train he instantly stopped crying. We got off the train, the crying continued. Until they found the ball.

We left the zoo. All 3 slept on the way home. When we pulled into our house I told Trey he could watch Buzz now. He broke out in a smile.
Out of all the animals we saw at the zoo this was the one Beck was most interested in
In case you can't find this amazing creature it's the little black dot in the middle. It's a rolly polly that he saw by the restrooms. He starred in amazement at this thing for quite a while. Our next "zoo" trip might be out on our sidewalk.

Beck had an amazing time and carries his zoo map around with him everywhere. Everyone he sees he pulls out his map and tells them all about the animals we saw at the zoo.

With all the fun of wrangling a screaming Trey the entire time I have never been so exhausted after a zoo trip!

Memorial Day BBQ

On Memorial Day we were all invited up to have a BBQ with the University of Utah football team. All the players had to report because they started summer conditioning on Tuesday. Seeing as how the weather for Memorial Day was not great it was an indoor BBQ at the Marriott next to campus.

The food was good and Beck thought it was cool to see the football players. He was under the impression it was going to be a football game, but once he got over that he enjoyed himself. Tate and Trey were difficult as always. They wanted to run around the ballroom. I gave Tate my phone to try and calm him down and he took this pic while I was trying to eat.
Coach Whitt is the one standing with his back to us talking to some players.

I have to admit it was pretty fun to go and see all the players and Norm Chow was behind me in the buffet line. I'm not going to lie, my heart started beating a little faster. It was cool.

Buzzy

Buzz Lightyear has had quite a life. I remember Trevor having a Buzz Lightyear action figure when he was little and now my children love him as well. Except Trey. Love does not properly describe how he feels about Buzz. I think obsessed is a better word.

The first thing he says to me every morning is "play Buzz" He cries if we watch anything of than Buzz. He sleeps with his stuffed Buzz Lightyear and 99% of our conversations go like this

Trey: Mom
Me: What?
Trey: Buzz
and he shows me the Buzz Lightyear he is holding. He does this all day long! If the conversation does not go exactly as scripted above he has a melt down. This is one I accidentally have with him occasionally.

Trey: Mom
Me: Is that Buzz?
Trey: MOM!
Unless I say What? when he says Mom. He just yells MOM! over and over and over to me until the conversation goes correctly. It took me a little while to realize that it had to happen a certain way.

I added it up the other day and I think we have 11 different Buzz Lightyears. Trey rotates through all of them all day long. We have 2 mini action figures, 4 different stuff animals, a couple lego Buzzes, a mid sized Buzz and two full sized Buzz Lightyear action figures. All of these are just Buzz. This is not including all the other Toy Story toys we have. I think Andy would be jealous of their room.

Occasionally Trey mixes it up and he will hold Woody with Buzz. When Trey says Woody it sounds like Woey. I love it. He has also started calling Buzz, Buzzy. I guess he loves him so much he needed a nickname.

The other night Trey was screaming because he didn't want me to turn off Buzz and put him to bed. I decided to let him finish the movie. At the end of the movie he started screaming again, so we started it again hoping he would just fall asleep watching Buzz. One person did fall asleep and that was me. I woke up at 1am to Trey telling me to "play buzz" again. I put him in his crib and he cried for 35 minutes to watch Buzz before he finally gave in to sleep.

I think I want to change my previous statement. Trey is not obsessed with Buzz he is addicted.

Chefs Table

One reason I love having a birthday is for all the free and discounted things I can get throughout the whole month.

By far the best offer is the Chefs Table by Benihana's. I love Beni's and could eat there daily. My love of sushi can not be described. For anyone who hasn't joined the Chefs Table do it now!! Go to benihana.com click on Chefs Table and it will walk you through. On the first day of your birthday month they email you a coupon for a free mean up to $30. It doesn't include tip or tax, but there are no terms. You don't have to purchase anything to receive it. And if you're truly cheap like us, you go during lunch. Randy orders off the lunch menu for $12 and I get a $30 meal and we share it all and we walk out paying under $20 for great food at Benihana. Plus they always give you a lot of food. It fed all 5 of us! You can't beat this!

On a day Randy could take a longer lunch we went and met him up in Salt Lake. Plus to top it all off you get ice cream, they sing, you blow out a candle and they take a picture for you to remember your free meal for always
Beck and Tate loved their menus that turned into hats so much they wore them home.

NICU Reunion

So it is very apparent that I am an on again, off again blogger. After a 3 week lapse, I'm back!! I know what a great relief this brings to so many of you. My goal this week is to have a post a day to catch up on what we've been doing lately.

So I will begin by back tracking...

May 19, 2011 NICU Reunion!!

I had been looking forward to it all year! I love the NICU reunion. It is a great time for me to remember what a miracle Tate and Trey are and celebrate it!

The NICU reunion, for all who don't know what I'm talking about, is for anyone who is a "NICU graduates." Meaning, any baby that was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit after birth. They have a reunion every year in May at a park in Provo. It's a great way to count your blessings and also reconnect with some of their nurses.

They have carnival games, food, ice cream, a bouncy house and a blow up slide.

Life Flight always makes and appearance. Life Flight landed right as we pulled in and took off as soon as we walked into the park. There was an emergency and they had to go. Beck was sad he didn't get to sit in it.
They had a small playground at the park and that was all Tate wanted to do. Forget the games and bouncy house. He wanted to go down the slide
He also refused to wear shoes.
We finally had to force Tate to the bouncy house because Trey and Beck really wanted to go

Tate ended up having a lot of fun once we got him in

We did finally find something Tate willingly wanted to do other than the slides. Eat ice cream.
Between all the fun and games this is the loot we came home with
Two bags of popcorn were eaten before we ever got home. They kids had a blast and the weather was actually really nice, just a bit cloudy at times. It was a great day and I can't wait to go back again next year
